Serengeti

Serengeti National Park is one of the world's most famous wildlife destinations and the centrepiece of Tanzania's northern safari circuit. The park covers approximately 1.476 million hectares of savannah and forms part of the larger Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Serengeti is internationally famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on Earth. Millions of wildebeest, together with large numbers of zebras and gazelles, move through the wider ecosystem in search of fresh grazing and water. The movement is accompanied closely by predators. The park supports exceptional populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hyenas and numerous antelope species, as well as hundreds of bird species. Open grasslands provide spectacular wildlife viewing, while rocky kopjes, rivers and woodland add scenic diversity.
